OMR Functions and Security

  • Insert/Accumulate
    This function lets the inserter know if it needs to pull another sheet or if it needs to fold and insert. If an optical mark is not present for this function the next sheet will be pulled. If the optical mark is present it indicates that it is the last page in the set and that it is ready to be folded and inserted.
  • Diverting Sets
    By placing an Optical Mark in the Divert Field the inserter will divert the set once it is complete. This can be useful when an individual set needs special handling such as to be sent by Certified mail or personal delivery.
  • Selective Feeding
    This function allows the inserter to selectively pull a sheet from a designated feeder. Example: A business may have two types of customer levels, Gold level and Silver level. Using the Selective Feeding Function, feeder ''2'' could be filled with a flyer specific to Gold level customers to be inserted with there invoices, and Feeder ''3'' could be filled with a flyer specific to Silver level customers to be inserted with their invoices. Each time a Gold level invoice is pulled a flyer would be pulled from feeder ''2'' and each time a Silver level invoice is pulled a flyer from feeder ''3'' would be pulled.
  • Start and Stop Marks
    Marks placed on each page at the beginning and end of each OMR Track, this is often utilized to make sure the OMR reader knows the track has started and ended.
  • Sequence Mark
    This security function ensures that every printed page is accounted for and in order. An eight mark sequence is printed every eight pages through out the entire print run essentially assigning the numbers 1-8 to each page as follows 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,1,2,3,4,5 etc. If the reader detects a form out of sequential order it then knows that an error of some sort has occurred such as a print failure or the mishandling of the forms before loading.
