What is a Digital Duplicator?
A Digital Duplicator uses 2 different forms of processing (making of the plates and printing). With a Digital Duplicator, an image is scanned through a set of mirrors which essentially becomes etched on what is called a Master. This Master is then loaded automatically into a print cylinder that is inked. Once paper passes through, it is pressed on to the cylinder and the image is transferred from the Master onto the paper. One Master can produce several thousand copies.
The advantages with using a Digital Duplicator include simplicity of use, flexibility of paper weights that can be used, color printing, and even computer connectivity.
What happens when you make a copy / plate making? During this process, a Master is feed on to a drum and an image which is scanned is created onto this Master. The old Master is then removed and can be disposed of latter.
Printing Steps When you are ready to print, paper is feed into the Digital Duplicating Machine through a series of rollers. When the paper passes underneath the drum, a press roller presses the paper onto the drum. This is how the image is transfers onto a sheet of paper. Once the paper passes under the drum, it exits the machine into a receiving tray.
